Ingredients
  

Meringue
  • 4 egg whites room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Coloring
  • gel food coloring pastel shades

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar.
  3. Gradually add sugar while beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  4. Mix in vanilla extract gently.
  5. Stripe piping bag with gel food coloring and fill with meringue.
  6. Pipe twist shapes onto prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake 75–90 minutes until dry, then cool completely in oven.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
