Method
- Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Beat egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar.
- Gradually add sugar while beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Mix in vanilla extract gently.
- Stripe piping bag with gel food coloring and fill with meringue.
- Pipe twist shapes onto prepared baking sheets.
- Bake 75–90 minutes until dry, then cool completely in oven.
