Ingredients
  

Sloppy Joe Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
Assembly
  • 8 slices Texas toast buttered

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Toaster or oven

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Drain excess grease if needed, then add ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar.
  4. Season with paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Simmer mixture on low heat for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  6. Toast Texas toast until golden and crisp.
  7. Spoon sloppy joe mixture onto toast and serve warm.

Notes

Toast bread well to prevent sogginess. Filling can be made ahead and reheated.
