Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar optional
  • 1.75 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup butter melted
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Cook sausage until browned, drain, and set aside.
  3. Pour melted butter into an 8x8 baking dish.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  5. Stir in milk just until combined.
  6. Fold sausage into batter.
  7. Spread batter into buttered dish and score into squares.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden.
