Irresistible Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large
Chocolate Filling
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips
Chocolate Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast with warm milk and sugar.
  2. Mix flour, salt, yeast mixture, butter, and egg to form dough.
  3. Knead dough until smooth and elastic.
  4. Allow dough to rise until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into rectangle.
  6. Spread butter and sprinkle cocoa, cinnamon, sugar, and chocolate chips.
  7. Roll dough and slice into rolls.
  8. Allow rolls to rise again.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.
  10. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

For extra richness add dark chocolate chunks to the filling.
