Ingredients
  

Bread Base
  • 1 large sourdough or brioche loaf
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup provolone or gouda optional
Garlic Butter Pretzel Coating
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda pretzel-style effect

Equipment

  • Baking tray
  • Foil
  • Sharp bread knife
  • Basting brush

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Slice bread in a crisscross pattern without cutting all the way through.
  3. Stuff cheese into every gap between the bread slices.
  4. Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and baking soda.
  5. Brush garlic butter mixture generously over the entire loaf.
  6. Wrap loosely in foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Unwrap and bake for another 10–12 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Optional: broil for 1–2 minutes for crispy edges.
  9. Rest for 5 minutes, then pull apart and serve warm.

Notes

Best served fresh while cheese is hot and stretchy.
