  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Bake puff pastry sheets until golden and fully puffed. Cool completely.
  2. Heat milk and sugar until steaming.
  3. Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
  4. Temper eggs with warm milk, then cook until thick.
  5. Stir in butter and vanilla; cool slightly.
  6. Layer cream between pastry sheets.
  7. Chill, dust with powdered sugar, and cut into squares.
