Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp instant yeast
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg large
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling
  • 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread Nutella or similar
Coating
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon optional
For Frying
  • neutral oil for deep frying

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast by mixing warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, and vanilla to the mixture and combine well.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt to form a soft dough, then knead until smooth.
  4. Let dough rise until doubled in size.
  5. Divide dough, fill each piece with chocolate hazelnut spread, and seal into balls.
  6. Allow shaped dough to rest for a second rise.
  7. Fry until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Coat warm donut holes in sugar mixture and serve immediately.

Notes

Best served warm for molten chocolate center effect.
