Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce

Ingredients
  

Chicken Marinade
  • 2 lbs Chicken Thighs boneless, skinless
  • 1/2 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Parsley chopped for garnish
Garlic Sauce (Toum)
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg White optional, for creaminess

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls

Method
 

  1. Combine yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper for marinade.
  2. Coat chicken in marinade and refrigerate at least 1 hour, ideally overnight.
  3. Cook chicken in skillet or grill 5–7 minutes per side until fully cooked. Slice thinly.
  4. Blend garlic, salt, lemon juice, and egg white. Slowly add oil until creamy for garlic sauce.
  5. Serve sliced chicken drizzled with garlic sauce. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

Serve with pita, rice, or salad. Marinate longer for more flavor.
