Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups whole milk warm
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese freshly shredded
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika optional
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  4. Cook until thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low and add cheese slowly, stirring until melted.
  6. Season with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper.
  7. Serve warm over fries.

Notes

Use freshly shredded cheese for best texture.
