Method
- Rinse and hull the strawberries. Cut into halves and place in a medium bowl.
- Whisk together dark rum, sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla extract until sugar dissolves.
- Pour the rum mixture over strawberries and toss gently to coat. Cover and refrigerate 1–4 hours.
- Serve chilled in bowls, drizzled with syrup and garnished with mint if desired.
Notes
Best served chilled. Flavor improves the longer the berries soak.
