Karupetti Panagam ( Palm Jaggery Panagam)

Panakam or Panagam it is a natural coolant and it is perfect for hot summers. I have the posted the recipe of Panagam that is made with Jaggery.  It is a sweet,refreshing,classic and traditional drink that can ready in flat 10mins.The festival of Shri Rama Navami indicates the birthday of Shri Rama who is considered to be the one of incarnations of Lord Vishnu.. Neer Mor and Panakam are essential drinks are the important prasadam / neivedhyam for the occassion. I make this panagam very often as it has a lot of health benefits. I being in Dubai, summers are super hot and to reduce the body temperature it, I make it more often. Perfect thirst quencher and it tastes divine.

I love the cover picture and the picture potrays so many stories..Look at the eyes of Lord Rama..It is mesmerizing!  Rama, the hero of the Ramayana, is one of the most popular deities worshipped in the Hindu religion.

Karupetti/Pana Vellam/Palm Jaggery is rich in calcium content,minerals,purifies blood and it is considered as the finest natural sweetener. It is used for making sukku kaapi, lehiyam ,kashayam, desserts and variety of traditional foods. It is far better and safer choice than white sugar or any other artificial/synthetic sugars.  It is good for digestion,increase the haemoglobin level,increases energy,relieves constipations and most important is that it helps in weight loss. Here goes the super simple recipe:

Preparation time – 10 mins/ Serves – 2

Chilled Water – 2cup
Karupetti – 1/4 cup
Pepper powder – 1/4tsp
Salt – a pinch(optional)
Cardamom powder – 1/2tsp
Dry ginger powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice – 1tbsp

1. Grate the karupetti and dissolve them in water. Filter them twice to disregard the impuritties. Karupetti has alot of impurities.So take care to filter them twice.
2. To this add in crushed pepper powder,salt,cardamom powder,ginger powder and lemon juice. Mix them well.

KarupettiPanagam is ready to serve. Serve Chilled.

1. Adding pepper powder and salt is optional. But it always give more flavor.
2. Tulsi leaves can also be added. You can plus or minus the ingredients as according to your taste.
